Personal VPN Service
Building and running my own VPN service to learn tunneling, encryption, and secure remote access hands-on.

Why I'm building it
VPNs show up everywhere in security work: remote access, site-to-site links, and privacy. They're also a common attack surface. Using a commercial VPN only teaches you which button to press. Building my own makes me deal with how tunnels, keys, routing, and server hardening actually work.
What I'm working through
- Setting up the VPN server and client configuration
- Key management and encrypted tunneling
- Routing traffic and handling DNS through the tunnel
- Locking down the server so the VPN itself doesn't become the weak point
I've used VPNs a lot as a user. This project is about understanding and running one from the server side.
